Date: Saturday, April 23rd, 2016

Time: 9:00am – 5:00 pm

Location: To be disclosed upon registration. It is our usual workshop space, and as such, is accessible but not barrier-free. It is located in downtown Toronto, a few blocks away from both Dundas and Queen stations (which are both accessible). There is a limited amount of paid street parking and a large pay parking lot nearby.

Target Audience: Everyone and anyone (18+)! From newbie to seasoned kinky veteran.

Coordinator: darkestembrace (FetLife)

What it is:

DeviantU is our first unconference! (Better than the clunky DeviantU(nconference), right?!)

An unconference is a loosely structured conference where the participants exchange information and ideas that interest them. Topics depend on who shows up and what they feel like talking about!

What are we hoping that this will be? A day full of learning, discussion, and skill sharing with a fantastic group of kinky folks. Beyond that, it’s up to you!

Timing for the day:

Arrive and check-in at 9am. We’ll be debriefing before closing up shop at 5pm. There will be an unofficial brunch off-site on April 24th for random socializing (and to help alleviate con drop).

What to bring:

All you need to do is show up in comfortable clothes! There are options for lunch within walking distance or you can bring your own lunch. Feel free to bring anything else you might want to teach or learn about throughout the day.

Registration fee:

$10 (or PWYC) at the door.

First Aid for Kinksters

Next Date: TBA

Target Audience: Organizers and/or DMs

Coordinator: darkestembrace (FetLife)

Knowing what to do when something unexpected happens is important for event organizers and DMs. Come learn the basics of first aid with a group of other like-minded people in an environment where you can comfortably ask questions about situations that may arise while playing. The course will be taught by a fellow member of the kink community, so you won’t need to give context – or feel uncomfortable – like you would in a regular first aid training session. Plus you will actually have your First Aid certification when we’re done!

This weekend training session is open to local event organizers and people who volunteer as DMs for their events. It is a private workshop with registration contingent on community references. If I do not know you personally, you must provide a scene reference from someone else that I (or one of the other DEVIANT organizers) know and trust.

The workshop will run from 9:30-4:30pm on both days. It is being taught by LotusLily and the certification is from Red Cross (Standard First Aid + CPR-C).

Please note: There will be another first aid training at a later date for local kinksters at large. We’re limiting registration to organizers and DMs for this one in order to keep the group to a manageable size and focus.

To attend, you will need to pre-register and pay the $85 fee for the course. This fee includes your first aid certification and manual, space rental, water, and light snacks. Then all you need to do is show up in comfortable clothes! (There are options for lunch within walking distance or you can bring your own lunch.)

How to register:

Send a message to darkestembrace expressing your interest in attending! She will respond and let you know how to register from there.

Payment options:

  1. Send an Interac email transfer directly to the course facilitator.
  2. Hand cash to a DEVIANToronto organizer in person at an event.

I do not need your legal name to register for the course, but the facilitator will eventually need it in order to complete your certificate.

A little bit of something.

Welcome to our new website! Or, well, our “we’re back” website. We had one years and years ago and let it become defunct when we stopped organizing workshops.

Since we’re going to be starting that up again, we thought it was high time to get our web presence back!

We’ll be announcing our first set of workshops soon. In the meantime, please complete our demographic survey of the Toronto kink scene if you haven’t already! (Or take a look at our preliminary results if you’d like.)
